This refractory cement by Rutland can be used to set, coat, or repair firebrick that has been damaged. It is an extremely effective sealant for masonry-to-masonry joints that are less than 1/4″ thick and can also seal air and gas leaks around coal or ash pit doors. Once the cement is heat cured it will withstand temperatures up to 2000? F. The tub contains pre-mixed cement for convenient application. The cement may be painted after it is dry. This item is sodium silicate cement with a tooling time of 30 minutes and a dry time of 24 hours. The heat cure time and temperature is one hour at 500? F. One gallon covers approximately forty-five 4.5″ x 9″ firebricks.
