Introduction: Basic graphite-coated stick electrode. Used for welding cast irons to other cast irons as well as for joining cast irons to mild steels and stainless steels. Cold welding of gray and malleable cast iron. Soft, low spatter arc. A preheat and inter-pass temperature of not less than 350 F is required during welding to prevent cracking. Good slag removal characteristics, low spatter tendency. Granitic separation of the carbon in the weld metal. Optimum for the repair and maintenance of cast iron applications: Repair and build-up of cast iron parts such as auto locks and heads, cylinder walls, motor exhaust ports, impeller rings, valve sets, cast iron die, casting, correcting machining errors, joining steels to cast iron, etc.
